What SafeSpend is

SafeSpend helps a trusted person (a carer) protect someone they look after from duplicate and impulse online purchases. The browser extension recognises checkout pages and, following the rules the carer sets, may pause a purchase and ask the carer before it goes ahead.

What we collect

• Account details — the carer's name, email address, password (stored hashed), and optionally a mobile number for approval requests.
• Purchase events — when the paired extension sees a purchase attempt: the website's domain, the address of the page it happened on (without any query parameters), the item name, the price, and what happened (allowed, paused, approved, declined). This is the product working — it's what appears on the carer's dashboard.
• Protection settings — the rules the carer sets (checks, spending limits, site rules).

What we do NOT collect

• No browsing history. Pages that are not purchase attempts are never reported.
• No card numbers, bank details, or payment credentials.
• No page content beyond the product name and price at a checkout.
• No selling or sharing of data with third parties, no advertising, no tracking cookies.

Where it lives

Data is stored on our servers in the United Kingdom/EU (database hosted in London) and is visible only to the carer account it belongs to. The extension stores a pairing token on the paired computer; unpairing removes it.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold about your household on your dashboard. You can delete a protected person (removing their history) at any time, and you can ask us to delete your whole account by emailing us. UK GDPR rights — access, correction, erasure — apply; contact us and we'll act on them.
